View NW, towards Doncaster etc., on the GN ECML; sharply curving to the left is the connection to the GC line to Sheffield. The Up parcels is headed by A2/3 4-6-2 No. 60500, designed by Edward Thompson and turned out in 5/46 - and named after him on his retirement in 6/46. It was the first of a new series of Paciifics, following eight years after the last of Sir Nigel Gresley's celebrated series and lasted until 6/63. In the siding is Thompson B1 4-6-0 No. 61120 (built 1/47, withdrawn 1/65).
