English: Four dummy loads rest on the loading dock of Expression College for Digital Arts in Emeryville, California, following their use in an amplifier shootout. The two gray rectangular grid resistors are precisely 3.92 ohms each, made by Avtron in Ohio, and can handle 8200w longterm, and 17kw for one minute duration, without external cooling. The two golden-looking six-foot-tall (2 m) cylinders are old silicon wafer ovens which measure 2 ohms ± 5%, made by MRL Industries: the Helix II model. They can handle 200 volt audio signals without any external cooling; they were designed for temperatures of 1300 C°.
