DescriptionRedhill with inter-regional express passing geograph-2745620-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg
English: Steam-hauled inter-regional express passing Redhill.
View northward, towards East Croydon and London: ex-SECR & LBSCR joint station on London etc. - Brighton etc. main line, junction of lines to Tonbridge and Guildford/Reading. The Summer Saturday 11.05 Walsall - Hastings express has ex-LBSCR H2 4-4-2 No. 32421 'South Foreland' (built 6/1911, withdrawn 8/56), which had taken over at Willesden Junction for the run over the West London line to Clapham Junction, then down to Brighton, whence another locomotive will continue to Eastbourne and Hastings (due 16.52). It is perhaps strange that this train is running through Redhill without stopping, but has not taken the Quarry Line avoiding Redhill.
