Summary

Description
English: Redcliff Point from the clifftop, Weymouth Bay. Looking south from the clifftop (unstable!) with Redcliff Point in the middle ground and the Isle of Portland on the horizon. Locally resistant limestones within the Corallian Beds outcrop at the shore at this point to form a headland. Clays interbedded with the limestones have resulted in rotational landsliding, which disrupts the limestone beds delivering them to the shore as large boulders. As the clayey materials are removed by marine erosion the limestones are left as a protective boulder apron at the cliff toe. Info from: http://www.scopac.org.uk/scopac%20sediment%20db/wey/wey.htm
