Printed on thin white paper in black ink. Bill has several small circular holes punched through the signatures of the Treasurer and Engineer. Images include Liberty, seated, with shield, caduseus, and sailing vessels; a busy railway station with cars on four different tracks; and a horse. Verso: blank except for handwritten note.
Inscription: "Treasurer of THE PHILADELPHIA AND READING Rail Road Company Twelve Months after date, Pay FIFTY Dollars to ___ or order, with Interest from the date hereof, on account of work done under [his] contract on the Philadelphia and Reading Rail Road. PHILADELPHIA."
