DescriptionReading desk in St Barnabas Heaton 001.jpg
Reading desk or "eagle" by Benjamin Payler in the Church of St Barnabas, Ashwell Road, Heaton, West Yorkshire, England. The church was designed by Mallinson & Healey, and built 1863-1864. It was restored in 1889, when Payler's reredos, pulpit and reading desk were installed as a matching set. This Caen stone sculpture has been painted in recent years, unfortunately hiding the finer detail.
