DescriptionRare Asperitas clouds over Channel Islands, California.jpg
English: Formerly known as Undulatus asperatus, Asperitas is a relatively new cloud formation recognized by the World Meteorological Organization in the International Cloud Atlas in 2017; they were the first new clouds to be introduced since cirrus intortus in 1951. Varying levels of illumination and thickness of the cloud can lead to dramatic visual effects.
Photographed from Oxnard Beach (Ventura County, CA) looking toward the Channel Islands in the Santa Barbara Channel of Southern California, using a Google Pixel 6a camera.
