English: Fresh spawn clump of the Agile Frog (Rana dalmatina), submerged in a pool. The single spawn clump is attached to a thin branch that runs through the bale. This is a typical spawning behaviour of that species. (For better visibility, a piece of paper was pushed under the spawn.)
Note: Mid April is a very unusual late date for Rana dalmatina spawning (caused by a long winter); "normal" would be about four weeks earlier in this region. Deutsch: Junger Laichballen des Springfrosches (Rana dalmatina) unter Wasser. Der Laich wurde charakteristischerweise als Einzelklumpen an einem dünnen Zweig verankert, der durch den Ballen führt. (Zur besseren Erkennbarkeit wurde für das Foto ein helles Stück Papier untergeschoben. Die untergetauchten, faustgroßen Laichballen der Art sind ansonsten oft kaum zu erkennen.)
Bemerkung: Ein Laichdatum Mitte April ist extrem spät für den Springfrosch in dieser Region (verursacht durch einen strengen Spätwinter); "normal" wären eher ca. vier Wochen früher. |
