Description
English: Raja ki Chatri is notable monument which is situated on the bank of the Tapti river about 4 miles from Burhanpur. This Chatri was constructed by the order of Emperor Aurangzeb in honour of the memory of Raja Jai Singh, the Commander of the Mughal force in Deccan. Raja Jai Singh while returning from the Deccan died at Burhanpur.
हिन्दी: बुरहानपुर से 4 मील की दुरी पर ताप्‍ती के किनारे राजा की छतरी नाम का एक उल्‍लेखनीय स्‍मारक है । ऐसा कहा गया है कि मुगल सम्राट औरंगजेब के आदेश से राजा जयसिंह के सम्‍मान में इस छतरी का निर्माण हुआ था । दक्‍खन में राजा जयसिंह मुगलसेना के सेनापति थे । दक्‍खन अभियान से लौटते समय बुरहानपुर में राजा जयसिंह की मृत्‍यु हो गई थी । कहा जाता है कि इस स्‍थान पर उनका दाह संस्‍कार किया गया था ।
