Summary

Description

Superbase Misawa (Japan), 27 October 1994. As a spotter from Valkenburg (homebase of the Dutch P-3s) I was thrilled to see this very rare Orion. 158227 was one of the Orions used for atmospheric and magnetic research missions by the NRL, the Naval Research Laboratory at Patuxent River (MD). RP-3D 227 was assigned to Project Magnet and wore the name 'Roadrunner'. Unfortunately for me the cartoon of the bird was missing in October 1994. Or maybe it was only carried on the other side.

This P-3 is a NP-3C now, used by VX-30.
