DescriptionREACTION MOTORS ROCKET TEST FACILITY, FRANKLIN LAKES, BERGEN COUNTY, NY.jpg
English: THE SITE WAS USED DURING WORLD WAR II ALONG SIDE A LAKE TO TEST ROCKET MOTORS ETC. THERE WAS A RESIDENCE ON THE SITE, PERHAPS BUILT LATER, AND A BLOCKHOUSE. ALL OF THESE HAVE BEEN DEMOLISHED AND ONLY VACANT LAND BESIDE THE LAKE COMPLETELY OVERGROWN WITH VEGETATION IS NOW PRESENT.
I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK WITH NEIGHBORS AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT A FAMILY NAMED GRIMALDI LIVED ON THE AREA BUT WHEN THEIR HOUSE WAS DEMOLISHED ALL THE OTHER BUILDINGS ASSOCIATED WITH THE REACTION SITE, INCLUDING THE BLOCKHOUSE, WERE ALSO DEMOLISHED. THEY SHOWED ME A SCRAPBOOK WITH PICTURES OF THE OLD HOUSE NOW GONE. ONLY DENSE WOODS REMAINS WITH NO OBVIOUS TRAILS AND NO INTERPRETIVE PLAQUES ETC.
