Summary

Description Outdoors group portrait of directing staff and students on a Unit Commanders' Course at the RAAF Staff School. The group includes, in the front row: Wing Commander (Wg Cdr) "Curly" Jolly (extreme left); Wg Cdr A. E. Cross (second from left); Air Vice Marshal W.H. Anderson, the school commandant (fourth from left). Also identified is 404267 Alan Ewing Thomson (back row third from right). Others believed to be present are 455 Squadron Leader Charles Edwin Cox; ?A M Brownlee; 408997 William Allan Dowsley; 251833 Eric Gooch; 281383 Reginald Richmond Frith; O3190 Charles William Butcher. The unit's mascot, a bulldog, is sitting in front of the group. The school ran Staff Courses and Unit Commanders' Courses of three months and six weeks' duration respectively.
