Description
Arabic copy with Persian interlinear translation and a commentary of the Quranic text apart, also in Persian, entitled Jawahir al-tafsir -Gems of interpretation- of Kamal al-Din Ibn Ali Wa'ez Hoseyn (m.1505). This poet and Muslim preacher -wa'ez- active in the Timurid court of Herat, was the author of Akhlaq al-Mohseni, Anwar-e Soheyli and Rowzat al-Shuhada, using the pseudonym Kashefi. The text of the Quran appears in black nasjí writing, the interlinear Persian translation in red nasjí and the commentary in the margins with nastaliq fine and precise writing. The initial pages have luxurious frontispieces with iluminated and polychrome decoration, including the double-page –safat al-unwan– with the first azora and the beginning of the second. Also the polychrome lacquer binding with floral motifs deserves the attention.
