Quaoar-red-ssc2004-05c.jpg (418 × 350 pixels, file size: 39 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Summary

Description An outdated artistic impression Quaoar and its large moon Weywot, shown here smaller than scale. Weywot was added to an existing impression of Quaoar, which tries to show the moderately red color of Quaoar (B-V=0.94, V-R=0.64). The precise albedos, and thus sizes of these two objects are not yet known. Quaoar is estimated to be about 844km in diameter. Thanks to the orbiting moon Weywot, Quaoar is known to be more massive than the dwarf planet Ceres.
