English: BUILT IN 1861. CHURCH STARTED AS ST. PETER’S GERMAN R.C. CHURCH BUT AS THE GERMAN ELEMENT MOVED IT BECAME THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN R.C. CHURCH IN NEWARK. MARTIN LUTHER KINGS VISITED HERE. BECAUSE OF DECLINING MEMBERSHIP IT WAS DECIDED TO CLOSE THE CHURCH AND IT WAS SCHEDULED FOR DEMOLITION WHICH IS NOW UNDERWAY |
