Español: Puya raimondii Harms (Bromeliaceae) es una especie endémica de la zona altoandina del Perú y Bolivia, distribuida entre 3200 y 4800 m de altitud que sobresale por su gran tamaño y belleza. Lleva ese epiteto específico en honor al sabio ítalo-peruano Antonio Raymondi quien la describió por primera vez. Presenta una única floración, cuando un ejemplar alcanza al menos una altura de 10 -15 m en condiciones naturales llegando a superar los 70 años de vida. Presenta como principal polinizador al colibri Patagona gigas, mas sus flores tambien son visitadas por otros animales. |
