Eine durchlaufende Gravitationswelle (GW) verändert den Abstand Erde (E) - Pulsar und damit während der Veränderung den Abstand der Pulse. Durch Erfassung dieser Änderungen mehrerer Pulsare kann nach Herrausrechnen anderer Effekte eine Gravitationswelle erkannt werden.

Pn are sending signals periodically, which are received on Earth. A gravitational wave (GW) changes the distance, earth (E) - pulsar; while the distance changes, also the time between pulses change. By measuring the changes in the pulse parameters and their correlations, a gravitational wave can be detected.
