Psilocybe alutacea Y.S. Chang & A.K. Mills

Image location: Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia

Habitat: grows on horse dung that is at least 3 months old. Usually in ditches and where water has runoff down gullies. Gelatinous pellicle. Species similar to P.pelliculosa in morphology. Some specimens more robust with a cap that opens up to a hemispherical shape when mature.Cap up to 20mm across. Average 5-15mm. Stem 30-50 mm on average. Up to 75mm. Blue staining on edge of cap in some specimens. Also on stem but mostly at the base of the stem and the mycelium attached.
