English: Protection Island National Wildlife Refuge, Washington, USA

Protection island has over 5,000 nesting gulls and provides valuable seabird habitat. It's 1 of 8 large rhinoceros auklet colonies. The island is closed to public entry to protect breeding seabirds, to limit disturbance and to protect auklet burrows which are easily crushed when walked upon.
