Summary

Description
English: Diagram of a mountain range showing peaks and cols, from which mountain parentage and prominences can be determined. A schematic range of peaks with the color underlying the minor peaks indicating the encirclement parent peak. The encirclement parent of M is H rather than the intuitive L. If col "k" were slightly lower, L would be the true encirclement parent.
