Description
English: The 70-gun Spanish ship of the line Princesa in battle with HMS Lenox, Kent and Oxford, 8 April 1740. The 64- cannon Princesa ship , commanded by Pablo Agustín de Aguirre, on April 19, 1740, held a stubborn combat for more than seven hours with the British Orford, Kent and Lenox, 70 cannons, at Cape Prior , to whom she had to surrender. The Princesa , built in Guarnizo in 1730, served in the Royal Navy under the name of Princessa until 1784 when it was sold. It was scrapped in 1809.
Español: Navío de línea español Princesa, de 70 cañones, enfrentándose el 8 de abril de 1740 a los navíos ingleses HMS Oxford (50 cañones), HMS Lennox y HMS Kent (70). El navío Princesa, de 64 cañones, al mando de Pablo Agustín de Aguirre, sostuvo el 19 de abril de 1740 un obstinado combate durante más de siete horas con los británicos Orford, Kent y Lenox, de 70 cañones, a la altura de cabo Prior, a los que tuvo que rendirse. El Princesa, construido en Guarnizo en 1730, sirvió en la Royal Navy con el nombre de Princessa hasta 1784 en que fue vendido. Se desguazó en 1809.
