Summary

Description Geostrophic-flow conditions are set when the isobars are approximately parallel and equally spaced. The air masses move in a stream flow along the isobars. Here, the wind is easterly with higher-pressure systems on its left and lower-pressure systems on its right (northern-hemisphere arrangement). An air stream flow of global scale, approximately along parallels, from Russia over Europe toward the North Atlantic Ocean.
