Summary

[edit]
Media data and Non-free use rationale
Description Portrait of the Belgian engineer "Clément Van Bogaert" (1865–1937).

I took this picture (as a photograph, not as a scan) from page 71 of the Belgian book entitled "Ingenieurs en hun erfgoed: een educatieve verkenningstocht naar de technische relicten van Belgische ingenieurs".[1]

I do not know where the book got the picture from, but it must have been much older (the subject, Clément Van Bogaert, lived from 1865–1937).

Because the copyright status is unclear, I will simply upload this file, as "copyrighted" (to be on the safe side) using the Fair Use rationale ("This is an historic photograph or other depiction of a person who is no longer alive. It will be used as the primary means of visual identification of that person in the article about them. ").

I believe this is a very rare photograph to find. Perhaps the only photograph of Clément Van Bogaert which will be found in a long time, if not forever?

If one wishes to contact the publisher of the mentioned book, "Steunpunt Industrieel & Wetenschappelijk Erfgoed (SIWE) [vzw]" please go ahead and ask them where they got the picture from. That way, it could be understood whether or not the picture is already in the public domain.

Immediate source: A 2009 book.[1]

Date of publication I took it from a 2009 publication,[1] which is presumably not the first time that it was published.
Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) Clément Van Bogaert
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) for visual identification of the person in question, at the top of his/her biographical article
Not replaceable with
free media because
(WP:NFCC#1)
After thorough investigation, repeated by another Wikipedia user, no other image of the man could be found.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) This is a photograph of the picture, not a scan of it. Usually, this is seen as a less professional way of digitalizing a printed picture.
Respect for
commercial opportunities
(WP:NFCC#2)
It is a simple portrait of his face.
