Watercolour and bodycolour on ivory, gold fausse-montre frame

The sitter was the only child of Sir John Belsches (1752-1821) who, in 1797, changed his name by Royal licence to Sir John Stuart, 3rd Bt. of Fettercairn. She married, in 1797, Sir William Forbes, 7th Bt. of Pitsligo (1773-1828).
