Jean-Ricahrd, il s'agit d'un portrait de la baronne de Benoist (Inventaire des miniatures sur ivoire conservées au cabinet des dessins, musée du Louvre et musée d'Orsay, Paris, 1994, n. 6). Selon Nathalie Lemoine-Bouchard dans Les peintres en miniature, 1650-1850, Les éditions l'Amateur, Paris,2008, p. 53-54, cité p.54, repr.p55 (c) ; il existe de nombreuses répliques de ce portrait. La composition elle-même, une femme accoudée à sa lyre, inspira d'autres artistes, notamment Delaplace et Delgot."
