Description
English: A young woman leaning on the edge of a window, painting exhibited by the artist at the Salon of 1799. The sitter has been identified as Marie-Denise Villers, born Lemoine, sister of the artist (according to Margaret A. Oppenheimer). It's not a portrait of Pauline Bonaparte, a fiction probably created by a 19th-century art dealer.
