Italiano: Ares e Afrodite (particolare); Museo archeologico nazionale di Napoli, (inv. nr. 9248). Da Pompei, Casa delle Nozze di Ercole (o Casa di Marte e Venere). Marte solleva il manto azzurro di Venere, per ammirarne la nudità caratterizzata solo da una catena d'oro disposta ad X sul petto. Caratteristica è la rappresentazione dei due sessi che prevede una carnagione bruna per l'uomo e chiara e delicata per la donna. Due amorini giocano con le armi di Marte. Lo scudo e l'elmo rimandano riflessi di luce.
