Summary

Description
English: Equestrian statue of Prince Józef Poniatowski standing before the Saxon Palace. Sponsored by Polish aristocracy and executed between 1826-32 by Bertel Thorvaldsen.[1] It was deliberately and completely destroyed by the Germans in 1944 (blew up on December 16).[1] The statue was reconstructed between 1948-51 by Paul Lauritz Rasmussen (financed by Danish people).[1] (see: Planned destruction of Warsaw).
