English: This photograph was published in numerous sources, each with different description:
Polski: Słynne zdjęcie które przez wiele lat uważano za fotografię polskiej kawalerii we wrześniu 1939 roku[4]. Było ono wydane w wielu źródłach z rożnymi detalami:

Wiele szczegółów zdjęcia nie zgadzało się z opisem:

  • polska kawaleria w roku 1939 nosiła francuskie hełmy Adrian wz. 15[7], a na zdjęciu jeźdźcy mają hełmy wz. 31 lub hełmy czeskie wz. 32[6][8][9]
  • polscy ułani troczyli szable do siodeł pod lewym kolanem a na zdjęciu jeźdźcy mają szable wiszące pionowo po prawej stronie.[6]
  • brak jest typowych dla kawalerii z 1939 r. owsiaków przy siodłach
  • najczęściej wymienianym miejscem gdzie zdjęcie to zostało zrobione był Sochaczew, niestety żadne miejsce w Sochaczewie nie pasuje do zdjęcia
Mundury na zdjęciu są podobne do mundurów żołnierzy słowackich odgrywali role polskich kawalerzystów w niemieckim filmie propagandowym Kampfgeschwader Lützow z 1941 roku[10][8]. Sceny ataku kawalerii w tym filmie były kręcone w Wyszkowie[11][12]. Budynek po lewej stronie zdjęcia także widać w tym filmie (zobacz) i lokacja została rozpoznana jako okolice rynku w Wyszkowie. Powyższa fotografia nie jest kadrem z tego filmu ale musiało być zrobione podczas jego kręcenia[10][13].
