Pleiospilos is one genus in the family Mesembryanthemaceae - the Ice Plants. This family also includes the Living Stones (Lithops) and several other genera. The Mesembryanthemaceae are widespread mainly throughout vast areas in South Africa. The "Mesemb craze" has affected many specialists around the world. Collections focused exclusively on these plants can be extensive, especially since the number of species in this family exceeds 2000! |
