English: Photo from an International Latex Company ad for its "Living Girdle".
A copyright renewal search was done in artwork for the years 1976 and 1977. There were no renewals for the International Latex Company.
The Life magazine copyright renewal status would have no bearing on whether or not this ad was now in the public domain because magazines are considered to be collective works; any ads in them must have their own copyright registration to be considered protected.
Note that it may still be copyrighted in jurisdictions that do not apply the rule of the shorter term for US works (depending on the date of the author's death), such as Canada (70 years p.m.a.), Mainland China (50 years p.m.a., not Hong Kong or Macao), Germany (70 years p.m.a.), Mexico (100 years p.m.a.), Switzerland (70 years p.m.a.), and other countries with individual treaties.
