English: Plaque at centre of Coldstream bridge, reading as follows: COLDSTREAM BRIDGE. Erected at a cost of £6,000 by the Tweed Bridges Trustees 1763-1766. Sir John Patterson, Bart, Chairman. John Smeaton, FRS, Engineer. Robert Reid, Resident Engineer. The foundations were protected with concrete, the parapet walls rebuilt and the cauld repaired in 1922. Sir Francis Douglas Blake, Bart, CB, Chairman of the Tweed Bridges Trustees. JA Bean, County Surveyor of Northumberland & Engineer to the Trust. The bridge was strengthened by reinforced concrete relieving arches and widened by cantilevering the footpaths 1960-1961. Lieut Col GH Davidson, TD, Chairman of the Tweed Bridges Trustees.
