DescriptionPittbanner Heinz.png	English: University of Pittsburgh banner. Originally designed for Template:University of Pittsburgh. Photos and design by Michael G. White The purpose of the image is to give a quick, visually informative, and unified impression of the University of Pittsburgh in all University of Pittsburgh-related Wikipedia articles containing the Template:University of Pittsburgh. The template is designed to convey visual information about the University's two most iconic buildings, to convey a sense of history about the University by including its founding date, and therefore to also encourage further exploration of information about the University of Pittsburgh. The template is accompanied by an image map for quick navigation to articles of interest without the necessity of uncollapsing the template.
