Provenance: From the private collection of the late Thomas William Nicolaas Hitge, a former Judge President of the Transvaal & Mayor of Potchefstroom, as well as one of the founding members of the Pretoria law firm MacRobert, de Villiers & Hitge. According to the family Mr Hitge was a personal friend of the artist J H Pierneef, & he acquired the painting directly from the artist where it hung in the family home at 770 Government Avenue, Brynterion, Pretoria
