DescriptionPictish Symbol Stones designs - Notched Rectangle Selection.png
English: Around 16 examples of the so-called Notched Rectangle design can be seen on Pictish Standing Stones (around 1200 to 1500 years old) in situ in NE Scotland or in (mainly) Scottish museums. There are two main designs - about 1/3 are the Notched Rectangle alone, the remaining 2/3rds have a "Z" crossing the main design. The "notch" refers to a cut out at the base of the design.
