English: Phrik nam pla or nam pla phrik is a fish sauce (nam pla) containing chopped chillies (phrik), usually bird's eye chilli (green, red, or mixed), sometimes including lime juice (nam manao) and chopped or thinly sliced raw garlic (krathiam). It is a standard sauce at nearly every Thai meal where it is used in much the same way as salt (albeit a spicy "salt"). It is viewed in Thailand as being spiced fish sauce, not as a chilli paste (not a nam phrik).
