English: Elk's Lodge BPOE No. 2, later known as the Broadwood Hotel and sometimes the "Philadelphia Athletic Club" after a later tenant, on the NRHP since August 23, 1984. This is an advertisement showing the "new Philadelphia Elk's Club" (it was built in 1924). This may have been an advertisement in their magazine or also may have been a matchbook cover - for matches given out in the hotel. The BPOE #2 went bankrupt in 1929 trying to pay for the new building. No copyright notice appears on the work.
The ballroom of the hotel was used as a recording studio many times by Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Symphony, as well as by the basketball team the SPHAs (formerly South Philadelphia Hebrew Association), a predecessor of the Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors.
