Summary

Description Signal goes from left to right. Right is a filter circuit. In the middle is the charge pump. Left are three phase detectors. From top to bottom: The Gilbert cell works for sine waves, square waves, and less well for pulses. On square waves it acts as an XOR gate, which can also be composed of NANDs. Adding feedback and removing one NAND gives the time frequency detector. The delay prevents the dead band.
