Summary

Description Georgetown University Law Center Professor of Law and a Legislative Assistant to Senator Robert F. Kennedy Peter Edelman was instrumental in the creation of the Food Stamp Act of 1964. Professor Edelman was a panel member at the 50th Anniversary of the 1964 Food Stamp Act at the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Washington, D.C. on Thursday Nov. 20, 2014. The Food Stamp Program now the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families and provides economic benefits to communities. SNAP is the largest program in the domestic hunger safety. USDA photo by Bob Nichols.
