English: A low, completely submerged dam, the Garreg Ddu maintains a constant supply of water to Birmingham by retaining water on the upstream side so that water can be extracted at the Foel Tower to allow gravity feed. Construction started on the dam in 1895 and it was completed in 1904. This is the reservoir above the dam.
