Notes A pesar de que el retrato del emperador fue ejecutado con gran rapidez, cautivó a la familia real —lo colocaron en el Salón de los Embajadores de la residencia imperial, la Quinta da Boa Vista, en Río; el 17 de enero de 1848, Pedro II condecoró a Monvoisin con la Imperial Orden del Crucero— y, luego de ser presentado en la Exposición General de Bellas Artes, también a gran parte de la sociedad carioca. Cuando la familia real tuvo que abandonar Brasil, se llevó el cuadro que instalaron en el castilo de Eu, en Francia.
