Pearson and Cox 3 hp steam bicycle, 1912. A number of these machines were made and sold by the firm of Pearson-Cox Ltd, of Shortlands, Kent, during the period 1912-1914. The arrangement of this bicycle (which has been sectioned) is similar to the Serpollet steam car, but is simplified by excluding the condenser and much of the automatic mechanism. The engine is mounted in the frame behind the seat post and immediately in front of the rear wheel. The bicycle has a maximum speed of 40-45mph.
