Rutland Barrington as Marquis Imari in The Geisha, c. 1896. Possibly photographed by Alfred Ellis. The photo is similar to the one of Barrington as Imari published in The George Edwardes Birthday Book (compiled by Owen Hall) presented to the audience at Daly's Theatre on 26 April 1897 on the first anniversary of The Geisha.
This photo has been misidentified in some books about Gilbert and Sullivan as being Barrington in the role of Pooh-Bah in The Mikado, for instance in the booklet "D'Oyly Carte Centenary 1875-1975".
