Description

Patch reef in the Bahamas.

Organisms visible in this section of patch reef include Porites porites furcata clubbed finger corals, Porolithon pachydermum encrusting red algae ("reef cement"), Turbinaria brown algae, fleshy green algae, >1 species of octocoral, bluehead wrasse (Thalassoma bifasciatum), etc. Surrounding the patch reef is a rippled aragonite sand seafloor (upper right).
