The list isintended to be typical, but by nomeans exhaustive. Further, it oftenhappens that the Sakai wordappears (generally with some modifica-tion of form) in a number of Semang and Jakun dialects ; while there are severalseries of words, belonging to severaldistinct families of speech which runmore or less through all three groups. These will be discussed later; the aboveshort list merely illustrates a few of theverbal differences between the groups. In view of the apparent internaldiversity of the Jakun group, it is hererepresented by two lists.
