Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | List of video games in the Museum of Modern Art |
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | The image gives the reader a clear idea of how the video games in the collection are displayed. These works are displayed in a very minimalistic manner, with only the screen and controller visible to the player/user. This is done in order to minimize factors such as nostalgia and to generate a form of "distance" or "shock" in the player. The focus that is put on the work's design this way is modeled after Philip Johnson’s 1934 exhibition "Machine Art." Pac-Man was picked to represent the exhibit as curator Paola Antonelli expected it to be the most popular game on display. |
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
No free photographs of the exhibition exist. |
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | This file is the only image of the exhibition used on English Wikipedia. It will only be used once in the article and has been cropped on both sides to be smaller than its original version. The resolution of the image is slightly lower than that of the original version as well. |
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
The photograph was taken by Mashable as part of a gallery of images. The image used here is cropped in order to be minimal and its page links to the article it has been featured on originally. |
