Description
English: Jet bowl, 1400s. Part of the Museum of London medieval collections. "Jet, from Whitby in Yorkshire, was though to have healing properties - particularly for women. Water may have been given to a woman in labour in this bowl: 'If a woman travails of a child, and drinks of the water that has lain in it, soon she shall be delivered.'"
