English: GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba--U.S. Coast Guardsmen from Port Security Unit 305, based in Fort Eustis, Va., pick up a group of Marines from the Marine Corps Security Forces Company during a joint training exercise, April 8, 2009. The Coast Guardsmen used transportable port security boats to extract the Marines from their position. Port Security Unit 305 supports the security mission at Joint Task Force Guantanamo and patrols the waters off the coast of Naval Station Guantanamo Bay. JTF Guantanamo conducts safe, humane, legal and transparent care and custody of detainees, including those convicted by military commission and those ordered released. The JTF conducts intelligence collection, analysis and dissemination for the protection of detainees and personnel working in JTF Guantanamo facilities and in support of the Global War on Terror. JTF Guantanamo provides support to the Office of Military Commissions, to law enforcement and to war crimes investigations. The JTF conducts planning for and, on order, responds to Caribbean mass migration operations. UNCLASSIFIED - Cleared for public release.
