Hero' and other paddle steamers and barges tied up at Echuca wharf at very low river level, with wharf towering high above the river boats. [A researcher believes the boats moored behind the 'P.S. Hero' are are 'P.S. Melbourne' and 'P.S. Edwards' and that the photograph is taken much later than 1890, perhaps late 1940's].

Registered in Sydney, 1874, Melbourne, 1879, official number 71798. Built at Echuca, 1874, by G. Linklater. (Godson number 77A/22).
