English: This has also recently been attributed (by Christina Haak: Das barocke Bildnis in Norddeutschland 2001, p. 140) to Godfrey Kneller. The rug on the table shows the coat of arms of the Kerkring family of Lübeck and Amsterdam. The paper shows a quot from Seneca, Nat Quaest. I 1: NISI AD HAEC ADMITTERER NON FUERAT OPERAE PRETIUM NASCI
